The history of the Galmés i Ferrer winery in Petra is a fascinating journey through generations dedicated to wine production. Located in the municipality of Petra, in Pla de Mallorca, this winery has its roots in the 1930s, when wine production began with official declarations for grape harvesting and wine distribution.

The founder, the grandfather of the family, took the first steps, making wine sporadically. The grapes were processed and marketed, but the dedication to this tradition did not become exclusive until the next generation, with Guillem Galmes Salas. This dedicated winemaker focused exclusively on winemaking, establishing numerous suppliers in the Pla region around Petra.

The wine produced by the winery was widely distributed throughout Mallorca, and the dedication and training in winemaking was passed on to the next generation, to the current winemaker and owner, Arnau Galmés Ferrer. The legacy spread over time, and the winery underwent significant changes in the 2000s with a project to modernize the facilities. The expansion of the winery brought with it new lines of wines.

Bodega Galmés i Ferrer embodies the fusion of old and new, honoring Mallorcan traditions while looking to the future. Each bottle tells the unique story of a passionate family who have dedicated their lives to the art of winemaking, and their wines bear witness to this rich heritage in every sip.

The Beginnings

Wine production begins with official grape harvest declarations and wine distribution.
Around 1950

Generation after Generation

Guillem Galmes Salas takes the reins of the winery and dedicates his life to the world of wine.

Late 1960s

Change of warehouse

The initial production took place in a typical 17th century cellar in the center of Petra, later moving to the outskirts of the village.

1970-1980

Bulk Wine

Mass production is at a historic milestone. This allowed the sale of wine throughout the island of Mallorca.

2000

Modernization Project

The winery is transformed with the expansion of the building and the incorporation of new areas: laboratory, tasting room, tanks, barrel room and commercial store.

2021

Digitization Project

The winery’s production processes begin to be digitalized.
